AlertFind Error: Maximum View State Size Limit (170KB) Exceeded

Overview

When attempting to import a Roster into AlertFind you receive the following error message: Error: Maximum view state size limit (170KB) exceeded. Actual view state size for this page was ###.###KB where ###.### is a value greater than 170.

Solution

This issue occurs when the file is not saved in the 'UTF-8 with LF' format. If the editor you are using to update your Roster does not support saving in this format, the instructions below will guide you on using Notepad++, a free third-party text editor, to correct the file format.

  1. Open the Roster in Notepad++

  2. Click Encoding from the menu at the top

  3. Notice that the top section identifies this example as encoded with UTF-8-BOM, which is invalid. Click Convert to UTF-8 to convert the file

  4. Save the file and run the import again

After updating the file format the import is successful.
